Ditching the Diet Mentality (Part Four)

March Monthly Newsletter – Part Four

Find out the facts behind popular diets in our four-part series

Morsel of the Month
We are back with the final installment in our four-part series on fad diets. We have spent the past few weeks discussing trending diets in our newsletter and on our blog. Maybe now you’re feeling good about bypassing strict food rules, but wondering where that leaves you. In our latest blog post, we explain the three approaches we often use with our clients. Our dietitians always personalize meal plans tailored to each person’s needs and preferences, encouraging our clients to listen to their internal hunger and fullness cues. Sometimes, we need some stepping stones along the way to fully adopting this habit, such in increasing our intake of fiber-rich foods or taking note of our behaviors. We have some suggestions and resources for you if you would like to learn more about these practices.

Read more about intuitive eating, volumetrics and self-monitoring on our blog.

Recipe Highlight
For those of us practicing social distancing by cooking and eating at home, here are some recipes that make use of pantry staples:
– the whole family will enjoy pantry pancakes
– a fancy, but simple, pasta sauce
– a quick and easy lunch for working at home

Athens Announcements
All of us here at Athens Nutrition hope you are doing well under these challenging circumstances. To prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and to protect our staff and our clients, we have moved all of our in-person appointments to online telehealth sessions for the next several weeks.

If you are currently scheduled with us, your nutritionist will be in touch with you about setting up your virtual appointment. If you are not currently working with one of our dietitians but would like to schedule a virtual appointment, please contact us. Our virtual, telehealth sessions will provide the same personalized,  one-on-one nutrition counseling but you will be able to chat with your dietitian from the comfort of your own home. Our video-sessions are easy to set up, meet HIPAA guidelines and best of all, most insurance plans will cover telehealth nutrition counseling.

We are here to help you meet your nutrition goals. If you have questions for us or would like to schedule a telehealth appointment, please contact us.

Thank you and stay well!
