Top 5 Tips for Healthier Weight Loss

January 2, 2023 Weekly Newsletter

(it’s not what you think)

Morsel of the Month

It’s January and you’re probably seeing and hearing a lot of advertisements for diets, cleanses, and weight loss apps. We know your health is important to you and it’s tempting to want to jump into a new weight loss program after a hectic holiday season. But what if we told you there’s another way to feel good in your body?

  1. There is no magic number. Despite what a BMI chart, an influencer or a celebrity says, there is no perfect weight where all of your dreams come true. Your body has a range where it feels comfortable and it’s normal to fluctuate day to day or in different seasons of your life. Stop measuring your success by the scale and start to notice your energy level and your overall health instead.
  2. There is no quick fix. If someone is promising significant weight loss in a short amount of time, run. Fast weight loss is not sustainable because whatever allowed for those dramatic results is not something anyone would want to do long term. Additionally, it might not be healthy if you are cutting out a bunch of foods. We recommended finding a way to eat that seems reasonable to your taste buds and your schedule.
  3. Add foods into your plan. Most Americans do not eat the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables. Aim for filling half of your plate with colorful produce, whether fresh or frozen. You may notice better digestion, increased energy and more satisfying meals.
  4. Slow it down. We know you’re busy, but we recommend taking your time with your meals to enjoy the taste of your food and to chew thoroughly. Taking a moment to savor your food can help to increase the pleasure and satiety of your meals. Most of us forget that chewing is the first step of digestion!
  5. Get cozy in the kitchen. When you cook your own meals, you get to eat exactly what you want. You can have your food as crispy, spicy, seasoned or crunchy as you want. You may even save some money. We believe in easy, healthy, delicious food that your whole family will eat. Sign up for our Culinary Workshop to ignite your love of cooking today.
